Having enjoyed the best courses in the West of Ireland for the past 8 years now – SM Links 2014, SM Links 2015, SM Links 2016, SM Links 2017, SM Links 2018 & Links Challenge 2019, Links Challenge 2020 & Links Challenge 2021 – The 9th Annual Tournament of The Social Media Links Challenge will take place at 2 of the finest links courses in Ireland over 3 days when it tees off in late August. Carne Golf Links & Enniscrone Golf Club once again provide stern but very different golfing tests from Thursday 25th to Saturday 27th August 2022!
The opening Round of the 2022 Links Challenge will take place on Thursday 25th August at the spectacular Carne Golf Links’ Hackett Course. This Belmullet Beauty is a joy to behold, where you will experience some of the most scenic golf holes anywhere in the World – in fact it is like playing golf on the edge of the World!! Whoever leads after Round 1 will definitely deserve it.
Day 2 on Friday 26th August 2021 will take in the awesome Wild Atlantic Dunes Course at Carne Golf Links. Our competitors faced a mixed day of conditions last August and we are hoping for a little better come the 2nd Round next year and maybe with a little less wind too!! This is one of the more remote courses in Ireland but as a result of that it has one of the most amazing locations for a golf course anywhere in the World! The Wild Atlantic Dunes Course has been gaining in popularity over the past year or so and it’s no surprise that people from all over the World flock to Carne Golf Links in beautiful Belmullet to soak up the experience of all 27 holes!
The Final Day’s play will be hosted at the exquisite Enniscrone Golf Club, on Saturday 27th August 2020. It has been the host course for the Final Round over the past 8 years of the event and provides an excellent venue in all aspects. It will again host the Final Round in 2022 and this world renowned course will test each and every player as they strive to get into the leading places following the end of 3 great days of Links Golf in the West of Ireland.
The entry fee per person is only €189 Golf only (€378 per Team of 2).
The Tournament Format will stay the same for the Event from previous years
- Pairs Tournament, Teams of 2
- Par 4s & Par 5s: Both players tee off and pick one tee shot, from this spot both players then play their own ball from there. The first player to play will be the player whose tee shot is chosen (Play as Lie depending on the Local Rules on the day), the 2nd player may then place their ball within a scorecard not nearer the hole.
- Par 3s: Both players play their own ball for the duration of the hole Team of 2 with both scores on holes 9 & 18 and 1 score to count on the other holes each (3/4 Handicaps apply)
- Stableford
Accommodation is available at The Broadhaven Bay Hotel, which is less than 10 minutes from Carne Golf Links, for the opening nights of the Tournament and then The Great National Hotel Ballina which is approximately 15 minutes from Enniscrone Golf Links.
The Play & Stay packages for the Links Challenge 2022 are as follows:
- 2 nights’ B&B and 3 rounds of Golf – €325 per person sharing / €650 per Team
- 3 nights’ B&B and 3 rounds of Golf & Prize Giving Dinner – €409 per person sharing / €818 per Team
- 4 nights’ B&B and 3 rounds of Golf & Prize Giving Dinner – €465 per person sharing / €930 per Team
